Welcome to the Web of Hiram
This website began in 2002 when Dr Robert Lomas of the University's School of
Management, decided to create an electronic database of the Masonic material held in many of the University's Special Collections as part of his on-going research
into the cultural origin of scientific ideas. Until 2019, when Dr Lomas retired, the site was hosted by the University. It provides a valuable insight into the cultural contributions of Freemasonry.
This website also offers support for users of The Masonic Tutor’s Handbook Series, distributed by Lewis Masonic. To access this feature click on the Masonic Tutor Support tab on the main menu. You will need your copy of the book handy when you log in.
On his retirement Dr Lomas took over hosting the site and continues to curate it. He remains extremely grateful to the University of Bradford for its help in creating this resource and for hosting it in its early years.
Since 2000 Dr Lomas has been conducting a survey on public attitudes towards Freemasonry. If you would like to contribute, or view previous contributions, to this on-going survey please click on this link. SURVEY
